zjman and I had a great day. :) I had a hair appointment this noon in Dover at Acorn Organic Salon. I am happy to say it looks awesome. :) I got it cut to just below my shoulders with lots of layers. It feels great! My hair, when long, gets horridly tangled. The stylist told me that my hair is dry and the cuticle gets roughened and easily interlocks with the other roughened strands of hair, thereby creating a tangled mess. No one has ever explained to me before why my hair acts that way. But happily I now know and will be moisturizing hair product from now on. :) Jay and I went across the street to Cafe on the Corner for lunch, then to the best used bookstore ever next door (Baldface Books). There, I found the Stephen King I've been looking for ( From a Buick 8) and I also picked up The Songs of Milarepa for my Buddhist studies. We then went to Tuttle's Red Barn to see what goodies they had - we picked up black licorice, blackberries, green curry paste, and coconut milk. After that, we got the hankerin' for Calef's Country Store and some Boylan's Cane Cola. We drove up through Barrington into Rochester, stopped at K-mart for Jay to pick up some shirts then went into Maine, back into Somersworth, and then to Lucky's Supermarket, which must be experienced. It's an Asian supermarket with so much hard-to-find-in-the-usual-NH-grocery store imported stuff. We just picked up toilet paper, watermelon Gummis from Japan, and a half pound of Jasmine Tea (all for less than 8 bucks), but will keep in mind what we found when we plan our meals for next week. Then we went to Fiddlehard Farms for beer and dinner stuff and headed home. What a lovely, delicious day! I love the taste of summer and I can't wait for more of it. We'll make dinner soon and i might take a pampering bath and read my current novel ( Free Food for Millionaires by Min Jin Lee). Plans tomorrow include laundry, and likely more relaxing. Yay for weekends to ourselves! Tags: daily be: Somersworth, NH feel: cheerful hear: Rehab - Amy Winehouse

Well, now that I've finished my parent's projects, I have had time to play with my dollhouse. Tonight, I painted the doors and windows, glued them in place, glued some bricks on the corners and added stucco. Here are pics, of course (taken with my cell phone): I am not sure if I am still going to thatch the roof. I might price some shingles from my favorite online shops just in case. I think the main roof would look good thatched, with shingles on the smaller roof. The small room off to the side is suppose to be a new "addition" the owner added to the shop for a small used bookstore and reading room. :) That's where the blue armchair I showed before will go, along with a bookshelf. --- And, on an unrelated note, it's zjman's 1-year anniversary of living in New Hampshire!!! :)Tags: craft project, dollhouse feel: geeky hear: Indiana Jones

First one in the office today! Oh right, that's because it's 8am and the day before Thanksgiving. Rawr. Stuff to do: 1) Avoid falling asleep at desk (running on about 4 hours of crappy sleep...preceded by another night of bad sleep). I think my insomnia is rearing its ugly head again. 2) Drink coffee. 3) DO NOT SKIP LUNCH. Must keep fueled. 4) Enter data. 5) Remove mussels from oven and weigh samples. 6) Avoid falling asleep at scale while weighing. 7) Store mussel shells for later reference. 8) Enter the remaining data. 9) Look over lecture for Tuesday to revise and edit. That should be it today. zjman and I are leaving this afternoon for PA (sorry, peeps in 'Toona, I'll be in the Philly corner this time. I'll see you at Yuletide). feel: too early
